The Square: Movie review

As a result of the art theme in the cultural sciences subject, the students saw the film The Square by Swedish director Ruben Östlund, winner of the golden palm 2017. The film highlights many elements that are also discussed in the subject matter, such as:

• the question of what art is;
• the questionable status of modern art;
• the functions of art;
• performance art;
• the film as an art form.

There is a questionnaire for the students and based on this, their own interpretation of the film was processed into an improvement key. If necessary, the students can develop their own interpretation of the film in a review as a final assignment.
