Earthquakes and Tsunamis: A Shocking Natural Disaster
Earthquakes are often shocking disasters with a huge impact. Every now and then they dominate the news. Depending on the strength and location of the earthquake, a region is often completely destroyed, thousands of people die and chaos reigns.
Your students may have questions about this and have a hard time imagining what it means to be a victim of an earthquake. That is why Red Cross Youth and Belgian Red Cross-Flanders International developed this teaching package about earthquakes.
It provides insight into:
- the structure of the earth;
- the occurrence of an earthquake;
- the assistance needed for the affected area
In addition to the Earthquakes teaching package, the Red Cross made an extension about Tsunamis, underwater earthquakes.
