Become a Styrofoam architect

The students get to work like real architects: after a short introduction to force distribution and strength theory, they learn the different techniques to design and construct an apartment building with our super fun Styrofoam cutters. But their skills are immediately tested as we simulate a real earthquake to see how sturdy their structure is. We not only think about how to make a building sturdy, we also learn something about vibrations and frequency in a playful way, making the link with something everyday like a swing.

Instructive excitement and a challenge ahead... And if the building survives the earthquake, it can be taken home.
