Guided Tour: iPad Tour, Living a Life

In 1942 the Nazis set up their SS Sammellager in the Dossin barracks in Mechelen. For thousands of Jews and Gypsies, this assembly camp was the starting point for a deportation without return. Today Kazerne Dossin (the former Jewish Museum of Deportation and Resistance) is a memorial, museum and documentation center about the Holocaust and human rights.

In this audio tour, Holocaust survivor Malvine Löwenwirth tells how she lived as a young woman during the war. In small groups, students explore the museum and the Memorial.

In between, students perform assignments on the iPad in small groups. They are encouraged to view documents and photos and to reflect on current phenomena such as migration, exclusion or discrimination. On each floor, the teacher gathers the group for a short introduction and an interactive commentary.
