De Facto: Impact of disinformation on education

Based on cognitive sciences, De Facto provides background knowledge about the functioning of our brain. Who do people find credible? Why are we very critical of some info and accept other info without thinking about it? How come some topics lead to polarization, making a debate almost impossible?

They have bundled this knowledge into four basic pillars. In addition, they have developed a framework to estimate quickly and efficiently whether a source is reliable or not.

The website also contains seven case studies on various current topics that are subject to a lot of disinformation and they suggest appropriate teaching methods. De Facto also wants to teach students to create fake news themselves. The digital tools to realize this can be found on the website.
