Start to teach: Script guidance approach for LIOs


This website introduces a guidance guideline for LIOs with associated guidance tools that were developed in the context of a pilot project to strengthen teacher training.

The researchers developed a guidance approach and associated guidance tools with the aim of supporting the LIO, the mentor-coach and the teacher trainer in their needs and to promote the guidance of self-regulated learning in the workplace (ZRwpL) of the LIO. This was done in a scientifically sound manner. The research was conducted according to the principles of educational design research (EDR).

Although the approach and tools have been developed for LIOs in secondary education, they can be transferred to primary and nursery education and can also be used for the guidance of starting teachers.

Without wishing to detract from the rich personal experience of teacher trainers and supervisors in schools, individual experiences should not lead to adjustments to the design and use of the approach and tools. Before adjustments are made to the tools, additional research is needed with the aim of making these adjustments evidence-informed and thus continuing to guarantee their quality.
