Op 8 maart 1908 was er in New York de eerste vrouwenstaking. Vrouwen protesteerden toen tegen hun slechte arbeidsomstandigheden. Ook vandaag zit achter deze dag een sterke boodschap: gelijke rechten voor vrouwen wereldwijd.
