Aandacht voor Wereld Toilet Dag
Elk jaar is het op 19 november officieel Wereld Toilet Dag. Op deze dag (gesteund door de VN) wordt extra aandacht gevraagd omdat 2,4 miljard mensen niet beschikken over normale sanitaire voorzieningen. Jaarlijks sterven 800.000 jonge kinderen aan diarree, per dag 2.200 kinderen. Dat zijn zo’n 70 volle schoolklassen per dag.
Doel van Wereld Toilet Dag
Het doel van Wereld Toilet Dag is om media, scholen, bedrijven, hulporganisaties en consumenten samen te brengen, aandacht te vragen voor het probleem en iedereen in actie te krijgen. Deze dag is wereldwijd uitgegroeid tot een belangrijk platform om deze boodschap uit te dragen. Verschillende hulporganisaties zetten zich in voor betere sanitaire voorzieningen in derde wereld landen.
